Street Law offers a comprehensive community legal education program.
In an effort to increase access to justice, Street Law offers comprehensive community legal education. Community Legal Education is available both for community sector workers and for members of our client group – those at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
Volunteer Lawyer and Law Student training
Street Law has developed a comprehensive training program for each Street Law lawyer and volunteer/secondee lawyer who attends Street Law. The training enables them to confidently deal with the clients’ legal needs and other issues that may arise in the provision of Street Law’s service.
Community Sector Worker Education
In response to the need expressed from the sector, Street Law has developed a legal education program for community sector workers who are working with clients experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The program is free, and consists of modules that can be delivered separately or together.

Intro to Street Law and its services
This module outlines the work and ethos of the Street Law centre, whilst raising awareness of the limits and range of Street Law’s services through quizzes and case scenarios.

How to spot a legal issue with the Legal Health Check
This module introduces the Legal Health Check: a resource developed by Street Law specifically for Community Sector Workers. Utilising the legal health check and client examples, participants learn to diagnose legal problems at an early stage.

The line between Legal Advice and Information
This module explores the difference between legal advice and information. Through the use of interviews and scenarios, participants learn how to navigate the line between the two, and the consequences of not doing so.

Intro to Fines and Infringements
Provides an introduction to the fines and infringements system. Through exercises and games, participants gain a greater awareness of the complex options available to the client group and how they may best assist them.
Client Education
Street Law has free client focused education. Delivery of the education can take place at our host agencies, or at any other service that may support our client group.
